4-Step DIY Guide: Installing Decorative Wall Panels
1. Measure & Plan
- Measure wall height and width; note obstacles (sockets, pipes).
- Dry-lay panels on the floor to choose the best starting point and minimise cuts.
- Mark a plumb vertical reference line on the wall for the first panel.
2. Prep & Trim
- Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and flat.
- Cut starter, edge, and corner trims to length with a fine-tooth saw.
- Fix trims in place using high-grab panel adhesive; check with a spirit level.
3. Bond the Panels
- Run vertical beads of adhesive on the back of the first panel.
- Slot the tongue into the trim, press firmly against the wall, and level.
- Repeat for remaining panels, engaging each tongue-and-groove joint for a tight, seamless fit.
4. Finish & Seal
- Cut around switches or pipes with a jigsaw or utility knife; test-fit before bonding.
- Fit final edge or universal trims, then apply colour-matched silicone to corners and joints for a watertight seal.
- Wipe panels clean, remove protective film, and allow adhesive to cure.
